The desire to work collaboratively came from a recognition of an overlap in conceptual interest. In our personal practices, we both felt pulled to the expression of discomfort. This sparked the desire to explore this issue as a unit, combining the other-worldly forms that fascinate Amanda with elements of the human body that permeates Kyle’s work. The resulting drawings became the series Beneath the Skin, using a shared language to investigation the sense of feeling uncomfortable in one’s skin.
